One consultant, not an agency
I'm Leonardo Marchitelli, a freelance Salesforce consultant and developer based in Rome. I work remotely with companies across Italy and the rest of Europe, in English and Italian, and I work on Salesforce only: administration and configuration, Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flow, integrations, Agentforce and ongoing support.
Freelance here means something specific: the person who reads your request is the person who writes the quote, builds the thing, releases it and answers your email six months later. No account manager translating in the middle, no junior team behind the scenes, no handover where half the context goes missing.
I'm Salesforce certified as Administrator, Platform Developer I and Platform App Builder, plus Copado Fundamentals for controlled deployment between sandbox and production. Certifications are renewed every release cycle, so they stay current.
When a freelance is the right call, and when they aren't
A freelance makes sense when the work has a recognisable shape and you want an experienced person doing it without paying for the structure around them: an enhancement, a component, an integration, technical backup for an in-house admin, ongoing care of an org nobody is really watching.
A freelance does not make sense when the project needs several people at once for months: a greenfield rollout across multiple clouds, change management, dozens of users to train, several workstreams running side by side. That needs a team, and if you ask me I'll say so before you spend three weeks finding out.
In between is where I do my best work: live orgs that need targeted, repeated, careful changes, with no minimum budget and no need to justify to a vendor why a half-day request is worth doing at all.
What I cost, without a discovery call
The rates are public: €40 an hour for consulting, development and administration when the scope stays open-ended, with a timesheet. A small enhancement starts at €260 fixed. An AMS plan with 8 hours included is €370 a month. A first Agentforce use case starts at €1,400, an integration at €1,900. All prices exclude VAT.
Some worked examples, with timings: a new field with a validation rule and a report, €260 in 1-2 days; a Screen Flow replacing a manual process, from €520 in 2-3 days; a three-level approval process with alerts, from €680 in 3-4 days; a Lightning Web Component reading an external API, from €1,050 in 4-6 days; a two-object, two-way ERP integration, from €1,900 in 1-2 weeks.
The rule is simple: if the scope can be written down, the price is fixed and the estimating risk is mine. If it can't, it's hourly with a ceiling you approve before I pass it. There is no minimum budget — a single validation rule is a legitimate request.
What I actually work on
Administration and configuration: profiles and permission sets, objects and fields, page layouts, reports and dashboards, untangling automations that overlap. Development: Apex with its tests, Lightning Web Components, triggers, batch and scheduled jobs, Flow when it's the right tool and code when it isn't.
Integrations with ERPs, back-office systems, e-commerce platforms and external APIs over REST or SOAP, with error handling and retries written into the quote rather than discovered afterwards. Agentforce and AI, starting from one measurable use case instead of a platform programme. Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Data Cloud and CPQ.
Everything goes through a sandbox, gets tested, and reaches production with a way back. I use a dedicated user with only the permissions the job needs, removed when the work ends, and your data never leaves your org.
The risk of relying on one person
It's a real risk and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. One person gets ill, takes holidays, and has full days. An agency always has someone who picks up, even if it's often someone who has never seen your org.
What I can do is limit the damage contractually: work runs in milestones, so you're never paying far ahead of what you've received; everything I build stays in your org and your repositories, with credentials in your name; I document as I go, in English or Italian, so another consultant can take over without calling me. And if something slips a delivery date, you hear it the same day, not on the deadline.
On capacity I'm just as direct: I take on a limited number of jobs in parallel, and when I can't start by your date I write that in the quote instead of accepting the work and quietly running late. A fast no costs you less than a slow yes.
Contract, invoicing and getting started
Italian VAT number and proper electronic invoicing (VAT ID 17935231005). EU companies with a valid VAT number are invoiced without Italian VAT, under the reverse charge mechanism. Bank transfer at 30 days: fixed-price work is invoiced on delivery, longer projects against agreed milestones, AMS monthly in advance.
I sign your NDA before receiving any detail about your org, or I provide a mutual one. Scope, price and delivery date go in writing before anything is touched: if it isn't written down, it isn't agreed. Anything I deliver comes with 30 days of free fixes if it doesn't behave as agreed.
Getting started takes no tender and no three meetings: a description of what should be true at the end is enough. You get a written quote within one business day, or a short call if something genuinely needs clarifying first.
How to ask for a quote
Tell me what needs to happen and in which org: which clouds you use, who the users are, and the outcome you expect. Three lines are enough to get a number; the more detail you give, the sharper that number is.
I reply within one business day with scope, price and delivery date, or I tell you this isn't a job for a freelance and why. Looking at your request is free and commits you to nothing: what you send me is used only to answer you.
How I work on larger projects
A freelancer has a physical limit: one person's hours. Above a certain size, an integration with several systems, a portal, a migration, the work does not fit in those hours without stretching timelines beyond reason.
On these projects I remain the single point of contact: you talk to me, I sign the quote, delivery is my responsibility. But I directly coordinate certified Salesforce specialists I have worked with for years, each on the part they do best, and I state it in the quote with names and roles. It is not an agency: there is no account manager, no team you have never seen, and I review the code line by line before release.
The project is split into phases, each with a fixed price and a written date. You pay one phase at a time, and at every phase you can stop with something working in production. Everything lives in your org, with users and credentials in your name, so nobody is held hostage, not even by me.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a freelance Salesforce consultant cost?
With me, €40 an hour for consulting, development and administration, with a timesheet when the scope is open-ended. Small enhancements start at €260 fixed, AMS plans at €370 a month with 8 hours included, a first Agentforce use case at €1,400 and integrations at €1,900. Prices exclude VAT and are agreed in writing before work starts. A freelance usually costs less than an agency because there is no sales structure sitting on top of the work.
Freelance or agency for Salesforce work?
It depends on the shape of the work, not on quality. A freelance wins on targeted changes, enhancements, integrations and ongoing maintenance: lower cost, faster start, and you talk to the person building it. An agency earns its keep when you need several people in parallel for months, with user training and multiple workstreams. If your request is the second kind, I'll say so up front rather than take it and stretch it out.
What happens if you're ill or unavailable?
You hear it the same day and we re-plan the delivery date in writing; on fixed-price work a delay doesn't change the price you approved. On AMS, if I can't cover the service in a given month, your unused hours stay yours and roll over. I don't sell round-the-clock availability that one person cannot honestly guarantee: what I do guarantee is a reply within one business day, and that nothing is held hostage, because credentials, code and documentation already live with you.
If we stop working together, what do we keep?
Everything. The work lives in your org, with users and credentials in your name, and the code in your repository if you keep one. Every automation and class I touch gets a note on what it does and why, and at the end of a job I hand over a summary of what changed. The point is that the next consultant, or your in-house admin, can pick things up without calling me.
Do you only work in Rome, or across Italy?
I'm based in Rome and work remotely with companies across Italy and Europe, on Central European time, in English and Italian. For Salesforce work, being in the room adds nothing: sandboxes, releases and test sessions go better over a shared screen. If you're in Rome and prefer to meet in person to kick things off, that works too.
How do contracts, invoicing and payment work?
A written contract or purchase order with scope, price and delivery date before work starts, plus your NDA or a mutual one if you need it. Proper Italian electronic invoicing; EU businesses with a valid VAT number are billed under the reverse charge, without Italian VAT. Bank transfer at 30 days: fixed price on delivery, longer projects by milestone, AMS monthly in advance. On small requests I don't ask for a deposit.
